WMS - Transfer Order

1. Introduction

The Transfer Order transaction as defined by NetSuite is used to move inventory between one location to another location, when the Multi-Location Inventory (MLI) feature is enabled. Cloud WMS allows the completion of the NetSuite Item Transfer Order process on a mobile device running the Movilizer application framework. It accomplishes the Transfer Order process on the mobile device through the following tasks:

  1. Allowing a user to pick goods to transfer to another location
  2. Requesting a transfer of goods from another location

1.2. Transfer Order Process Steps

Step 1 - User creates a Transfer Order on the mobile device from their location

To perform a Transfer Order on mobile device, navigate to Transfer Order option on device

Or alternatively, navigate to Transactions → Inventory → Enter Transfer Order in NetSuite

The warehouse user will need to complete the Transfer Order request and transmit that request to NetSuite.  Additionally they user has the option of either creating a transfer order with item fulfilment created at the time of the request or without it.

1.2.1. Transfer Order Without Item Fulfilment

Here the user simply needs to specify the subsidiary, source location and the destination location for the transfer order; the create item fulfilment checkbox will remain unticked

  • The user will also be required to list all inventory items and quantities required for transfer order as seen below

  • After identifying all required items to be transferred, the user will be required to finalise the transfer order request by transmitting this request to NetSuite

1.2.2. Transfer Order With Item Fulfilment

Nonetheless, if the create item fulfilment checkbox is ticked the following will occur:

  1. The user will be required to specify all inventory item details required and these may include bin numbers, lot or serial numbers, plates etc
  2. After transmitting this back to NetSuite the transfer order will be given a status of Pending Fulfilment
  3. Soon after, the transfer order is automatically approved and item fulfilment created with status of Picked
  4. This Transfer Order is then made available for packing on the mobile device, see Step 4

Step 2 - Transfer Order will appear in NetSuite under Transfer Orders, pending approval

Once the transfer order request is received in NetSuite, it can be found under Transactions → Inventory → Enter Transfer Order → List pending approval

Step 3 - NetSuite user approves transfer order and releases to the picking location

This transfer order request will have to undergo an approval process and at this point the transfer order can either be rejected or approved. if the transfer order is approved, the following will occur:

  1. The approve & reject button will disappear and
  2. The items on the transfer order will be committed

Once the Send to CC WMS button is clicked the following will occur:

  1. The button will be changed
  2. The transfer order will now appear on the pick screen of the mobile device

Step 4 - Pick Pack Ship Process begins

The transfer order will generally undergo the pick, pack and ship process like all orders do e.g. Once the Send to CC WMS button is clicked, the mobile user in the warehouse will be alerted of a new transfer order under the pick option on their device.

  1. Once item is picked on the device, the following occurs in NetSuite
    1. The transfer order status is updated to Pending Fulfilment
    2. An item fulfiment is generated and its status set to Picked.
  2. Similarly, once the transfer order is packed on the mobile device, the following will occur:
    1. The transfer order status will remain as Pending fulfilment
    2. The status of the previously created item fulfilment will be updated to Packed.
  3. Lastly, once item has been shipped, the following will occur:
    1. The transfer order status is updated to Pending Receipt
    2. The status of the previously created item fulfilment will be updated to Fulfiled
    3. The Close Order button will be updated to Receive

Step 5 - Transfer Order is available to receive on the mobile devices

  1. The transfer order status will be updated to Received
  2. An item receipt will be generated
