Install the Movilizer Desktop Client

This page provides step-by-step instructions about how to properly install the Movilizer Desktop Client.

Preconditions

  • You already downloaded the Movilizer Desktop Client file.

  • You have installed the Java version recommended on the Movilizer Desktop Client page.

Procedure

How to install the Movilizer Desktop Client depends on the file type of the Movilizer Desktop Client. Usually, the MDS automatically detects the appropriate file type for your device operating system when you download the Movilizer Client.

The following file types are possible:

  • JAR
  • EXE
  • MSI
  • DMG


Install JAR-files

  1. Navigate to the download folder in your device's file system.
  2. Select one of the following options:
    • Double-click the downloaded file (e.g., MovilizerClient.jar). 
    • Execute the following command line on the terminal:

java -jar filename.jar


The installation of the Movilizer Desktop Client starts.

After the installation is finished, the Movilizer Desktop Client starts automatically.

Now, you can continue with the initial authentication (registration). For more information, see Register the Movilizer Client.


Install EXE-files

  1. Navigate to the download folder in your device's file system.

  2. Double-click the downloaded file (e.g., MovilizerClient.exe).

After the installation is finished, the Movilizer Desktop Client starts automatically.

Now, you can continue with the initial authentication (registration). For more information, see Register the Movilizer Client.


Install MSI-files

  1. Navigate to the download folder in your device's file system.

  2. Double-click the downloaded file (e.g., MovilizerClient.msi).

  3. Follow the installation instructions on the screen.

After the installation is finished, the Movilizer Desktop Client starts automatically.

Now, you can continue with the initial authentication (registration). For more information, see Register the Movilizer Client.


Install DMG-files

  1. Navigate to the download folder in your device's file system.

  2. Open the disk image by double-clicking the downloaded file (e.g., MovilizerClient.dmg).

    When you open the disk image, a notification may be displayed, which informs you that the disk image is damaged and cannot be opened. In this case, the Gatekeeper feature blocks the installation. 
    If you see a Gatekeeper notification, proceed with the instruction in the Adjusting Gatekeeper options on your Mac section on this page.

  3. Drag and drop the application from the disk image window into your Applications folder.

After the installation is finished, you can start the Movilizer Desktop Client application as usual.


Now, you can continue with the initial authentication (registration). For more information, see Register the Movilizer Client.


Troubleshooting

Adjust the Gatekeeper options on your Mac

The following procedure describes how to adjust the Gatekeeper options on your Mac if the downloaded disk image file cannot be opened and a notification (see image below) is displayed instead.


  1. Open the System Preferences.
  2. Choose Security & Privacy.
  3. Select Anywhere in the Allow apps downloaded from section and confirm the selection by choosing Allow From Anywhere.
  4. Proceed with the installation procedure.


IMPORTANT

After the installation of the Movilizer Client, set the Gatekeeper options back to previous settings.
