Syncing Items Categories to Magento
Categories maybe added at any time. First they are created in NetSuite, synced to Magento then assigned to items by mappings. Please follow steps below to accomplish this
Step 1
Create new category using existing functionality in NetSuite.
- This can be done in NetSuite by navigating to Lists → Website → Categories
- Click the New button
- Fill required fields e.g. Category, Site, Subcategory Of etcetera.
- Click the Save Button
Please be advised that inventory items can be added at the bottom of this screen, but for the purpose of this demonstration, we will be doing so in step 5
Step 2
Send the NetSuite Categories to Magento.
- This can be done in NetSuite by navigating to Magento → Set-up → Sync Item Categories
Each time the categories are synced, the NetSuite Categories List in Magento is deleted and the entire table is rebuilt again. This ensures the table structure is always correct, however, it does not affect the existing mappings
Step 3
Review the NetSuite Categories in Magento. This will ensure new categories have successfully come across from NetSuite into Magento.
- This can be done in the Magento portal by navigating to Cloud Coders → NetSuite Category
Depending on the number of categories the site has, the page might have to be refresheda few times and specific category searched for in the name field
Step 4
Map Categories in Magento
- In the Magento portal, navigate to Catalog → Manage Category
- On the left part of the screen, Select the Category to be mapped
- Then on the General Information tab choose the relevant Netsuite category from the CC Netsuite ID dropdown list
- Ensure required fields are populated e.g. Names, Is Active etcetera.
- Save your configuration by clicking the Save Config button
After saving configuration, your new category is now ready to be used
Step 5
Assign web category to item In Netsuite.
- This can be done in NetSuite editing an Inventory Item belonging to the newly created/synced category
- Scroll down to the Web Store sub tab of that inventory item category
- Scroll down to the Web Site Categories of the Web store tab
- Add Site, newly created Site Category & necessary fields
- then click the Save button
Once the inventory item is saved, all changes will be automatically sent across to Magento and these Items will start to appear on the website once the changes are processed in Magento
Step 6
Check to ensure inventory item is added to newly created category
- In the Magento portal, navigate to Catalog → Manage Category
- On the left part of the screen, Select the newly mapped Category
- then click on the Category Products sub tab of that category
- Scroll down to find new inventory item or search using either the product name or SKU
